Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs
The Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs is a grassroots-style event held in Dixon, Illinois. The course starts behind the Dixon Park District Facility and consists of a 7.85-mile loop. The terrain is a mix of approximately 50% singletrack, 30% grassy meadow paths, and 20% gravel paths. While the course features minimal elevation gain—approximately 6,200 feet for the 100-mile distance—runners should expect technical elements such as tree roots, small stumps, rocks, and sections of exposure.
Participants can choose from several distances based on the number of completed loops:
- 100 Miler (13 loops, totaling 103 miles)
- 100k (8 loops)
- 50k (4 loops)
- 25k (2 loops)
- 8 Mile (1 loop)
The event provides two aid stations. The main station at the start/finish area offers water, snacks, and hot food options. A secondary water-and-ice-only station is located at approximately mile 3.7. Crew members are permitted at both locations, which are situated within a short walking distance of each other. Pacers are allowed for all distances after the first lap and may join or leave runners at either aid station.
All finishers of the 25k, 50k, and 100k receive medals, while 100-mile finishers are awarded a buckle. The event also recognizes the top three male and female finishers in each distance. The race takes place on public park property, and participants are required to share the trails with other park visitors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
