Harvestfest
Harvestfest is an annual community festival held the third weekend of October in Hungry Horse, Montana, at Canyon Elementary School, 200 North Street. The event is fall themed and offers activities for multiple age groups across the day.
The program includes an official 5k timed race with a per participant entry fee, a children s fun run and costume parade, a dessert auction, a pie eating contest, a chili cook off, and a cornbread competition. The 5k course runs along the Southfork of the Flathead River and includes stretches of gravel. Entry to the overall festival is free; a donation to the Canyon Kids Christmas Fund is recommended but not required. A portion of event proceeds will be donated to a local nonprofit, group, or family. Nominations for recipients close August 19, 2026.
Several judged competitions list entry fees and prizes: pie eating entry fees, chili cook off entry fees with cash awards for first through third place, and cornbread competition fees and prizes. There is also a combined entry option for both chili and cornbread. A free chili and cornbread lunch is offered while supplies last.
Additional family activities include a Kid s Corner run by the Imagine If Library, kids crafts and games, large equipment tours, yard games weather dependent, relay races, a coloring contest with a submission deadline of October 14, 2026, and a dessert silent auction.
