Event Overview
The Harvest & Howitzer Backyard Ultra is a last-runner-standing competition held on a private 100-acre Christmas tree and apple farm. Located in the Sierra foothills near Placerville and Georgetown, California, this inaugural event takes place on a course consisting of a 4.167-mile loop.
Format and Rules
The race follows the standard backyard ultra format. Participants must complete one 4.167-mile loop every hour, on the hour. The event continues until only one runner remains to complete a solo loop. If a runner fails to finish a loop within the hour or is not at the starting line for the next hour, they are eliminated. The event is designed as a weekend campout where runners, crews, and families are encouraged to stay on-site.
Course and Location
The event is situated at 5860 Shoo Fly Rd on private land. The terrain reflects the Sierra foothills environment, offering a hard and honest trail experience. The venue provides space for campfires and community gatherings between loops. In addition to the main backyard ultra, the event includes a kids' race.
