About the race
The 42nd Annual Harriers Gunner Shaw Classic is event #2 of 3 in the Harriers Thetis Lake Fall Trail Series, scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026 at Thetis Lake Regional Park in Victoria, BC.
The course is approximately 10 kilometres on trails around Thetis Lake. It includes roots, rocks, fallen branches and puddles and has some rough, hilly and mucky sections; participants should expect wet footing and bring dry, warm clothing for after the race. The event is sanctioned by BC Athletics.
Start and finish are located near the park main beach. Parking is available in the main lot at the end of Six Mile Road; the Galloping Goose trail provides a cycling access option with parking at the beach. Race package pick-up takes place at the main beach on race day. Amenities at the start/finish area include washrooms, change rooms, picnic tables, portable toilets and an area for team tents. In 2025 on-site refreshments included grilled pirogies and onions, hot chocolate, fruit, cookies and candies donated by a local store.
Registration notes on the event page indicate limited spots (551 remaining at the time listed) and a range of entry fees. Current Harriers club members may receive a $10 discount on advance entry fees. BC Athletics members are eligible for a $3 discount. Race Roster applies an online processing fee of $1.99 plus 6.99% to non-zero payments. Multi-time volunteers at past Harriers Thetis Lake series races may be eligible for a discount at the organizer's discretion.
Proceeds support the Harriers Foundation, which funds student scholarships and bursaries, athlete travel, youth development and other community projects. Harriers awards and related student funds have dispensed over $71,000 to at least 106 students, and a related student award has dispensed over $44,000 to 31 students, through 2020.
