Harewood Forest Trail Race
The Harewood Forest Trail Race is an annual spring running event held at the Wherwell playing fields in Harewood Forest, in the Test Valley. Proceeds from the event support the Wherwell Playing Fields Association and Wherwell School PTA.
The event offers multiple race formats:
- 5k
- 10k
- Canicross
- Children's fun run
Routes are undulating and hilly, using a mix of trail, tarmac, dirt and single-track sections that pass through fields and bluebell woods. The course has obstacles such as overhanging trees, mud, holes and ruts; it is marked with kilometre markers, tape, signs and flags and is supported by marshals. Trail shoes are recommended and entrants should expect uneven and potentially wet or slippery ground.
Entry is by pre-registration only and closes at 10pm on the stated closing date. Early and late entry pricing is published for the 5k and 10k distances. Age restrictions apply: 10k entrants must be at least 12 years old and 5k entrants at least 7 years old; 5k entrants under 11 must be accompanied on the route by a responsible adult who holds their own entry. The children's race is a multi-lap route around the field.
The event is cupless; participants should bring their own cup or bottle. Facilities include toilets, first aid on course and at the finish, parking on the sports field, post-race refreshments for purchase, and prizes for finishers. Dogs are permitted only if entered and must meet the event's specific safety and insurance requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
