Event information

The Hamsterley Moon Runner is a night-time head torch trail race on 15 November 2025 at Hamsterley Forest Park, Bishop Auckland DL13 3NL. The event distance is 10k. The organiser is Greener Miles Running. Entry fees are listed as £24 (UKA member) and £26 (non-member). The event has a maximum of 50 entrants. Entries are non-refundable; transfers or deferrals may be allowed before the event entry cut-off date under the organiser's terms.

Course, rules and facilities

The course is fully waymarked with reflective markers, marshalled along the route and in places fitted with small lights. Terrain includes hard packed gravel tracks, single twisting dirt tracks, some steep technical downhills and occasional muddy bridleway. The race is described as suitable for trail and head-torch novices as well as more experienced trail runners.

There will be a race HQ with toilets, parking for approximately 200 cars, and refreshments at the start and finish area. Medical support will be provided on the course. Water, food and fruit are available at the start and finish; hot drinks will be offered by the café. Dogs may take part under organiser rules: they must be under adult control and wear a suitable running harness attached to a bungee line and waist belt. Results are timed by two independent timekeepers. Prizes are given for the top three male and female finishers and other categories; a race memento, event photos and a packet of wild flower seeds are included with entry.
