Ham & Lyme 50k Autumn 2027
The Ham & Lyme Autumn edition is a 50k trail race following the Liberty Trail from Ham Hill Country Park to Lyme Regis. The route passes Wayford Woods, Forde Abbey, a reservoir, Thorncombe, Lambert’s Castle and the river Lym before reaching the seaside finish at the courtyard beneath the Marine Theatre. Total elevation gain is approximately 2,638 ft.
The course begins with a descent through woodland and moves through rolling countryside to the first aid station at Misterton. Subsequent highlights include autumn-coloured woods near Winsham, a steep climb and descent around Lambert’s Castle, a road crossing at the A35 with a staffed aid station, then a forested section and a long downhill into Lyme Regis. There are four aid stations in total; this is a cupless race so runners should carry at least one 500 ml water bottle and a cup for drinks. Aid stations offer water, coke, squash, sandwiches, crisps, fruit, nuts, sweets and other snacks.
Professional medical cover is provided and a cut-off around ten hours is set in the interest of volunteers and medical staff; those aiming to use the post-race coach back to Ham Hill should plan to finish well within nine hours. The route is marked with tape and arrows for most of the course and a GPX file is available on request. Pacers are not allowed. Very small drop bags to the finish are permitted. Trophies are awarded to first male and first female finishers and all finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
