Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon 2026

The Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon returns for its sixth edition as a trail event spanning historic landscapes near Hexham. The event includes a dedicated walk on Saturday 10 October and a run on Sunday 11 October.

Start and registration are at Housesteads Roman Fort and the course finishes at Tyne Green Country Park in Hexham. The advertised distance is a half marathon of 13.5 miles.

The route begins at the World Heritage site of Housesteads on the Military Road, follows the Hadrian's Wall Trail Path for about six miles, then descends to Newbrough. Runners pass through woodland to join the Tyne Riverside Trail Path; the final five miles are flat as the course approaches Hexham and finishes in Tyne Green Country Park.

This is an A B event. Runners must book the shuttle bus to the start or arrange their own drop-off at Housesteads. Bag drop is available at registration and all bags are transported to the finish. The event is cani-cross friendly with one well controlled dog per person, dogs to remain on a lead. Organisers use staggered group starts of 75 to 100 to protect the historic site and reduce congestion; start times are allocated by estimated finishing time.

Live chip timing is provided. All finishers receive an event T-shirt, a medal and a snack. Public car parking is available in Hexham. The event supports Heel and Toe Children's Charity and donations can be made at entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
