About the race
The Lake District Running Festival takes place at Grasmere Showground across the weekend of 5 and 6 June 2027. The festival combines off-road trail races, a 24 hour ultra, navigation-based events and family-friendly runs at a single location in the Lake District.
Race options on the Saturday include:
- 5.7 km Grasmere Gallop
- 10 km Grasmere Gallop
- 17 km Grasmere Gallop
- Marathon Grasmere Gallop
- 10 km Nordic Walk
Additional events and features include the Grasmere 24 hour Ultra, which is contested on a fully waymarked 5 km loop around Grasmere. Runners may compete solo or in teams, with competitors required to complete at least one lap each hour to remain in the event. The ultra is self supported; hot and cold water is available at the changeover area. Solo runners and teams who complete the full 24 hours receive event photographs and live GPS tracking is available during the race.
The OMM Lite Trail Quest places checkpoints around the Grasmere area. Competitors receive a map and must use only the supplied map and a compass to navigate; GPS is not permitted. Options include solo or team entries, long and short courses, and one- or two-day participation. Penalty points apply for exceeding time limits.
Family events on Saturday include a Teddy Dash (about 200 m) for under 5s and a 1 km Kids Fun Run for ages 5 to 12. All races have free photography and finish line cake, with medals and T shirts available to purchase. Day parking, camping and showers can be added to bookings.
