Grand Valley Backyard
The Grand Valley Backyard is an inaugural Backyard-style ultrarun scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Loma, CO, organized by Ultraverse Supplements. The event uses the traditional backyard format: runners complete repeated loops of 4.17 miles each hour, all starters begin together at the start of each loop, and the race continues until only one runner remains.
The course is mostly single track with some double track and no pavement. Each loop has about 500 feet of elevation gain concentrated in the first half. The route is described as runnable and non-technical. A large staging area is provided near the start and finish.
Awards and swag are distance-focused. Distance-specific buckles are awarded for every mileage achieved. Acrylic awards will be presented to the last male and last female standing, and a Sheridan buckle will be given to the overall last person standing. All finishers receive a buckle reflecting their exact mileage, a tri-blend shirt, a race sticker, and a draw-string bag. Results record distance achieved; a DNF is recorded only if a runner fails to complete a loop.
Support and logistics note that water and Proxima C Endurance Fuel will be available. Runners may have a crew (suggested) limited to three people with a 10x10 space per runner; pop-ups must be staked or weighted. No dogs are allowed in the crew area or on course. No refunds and no bib transfers apply; a credit schedule is available for cancellations based on the time before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
