God's Own BYU - Spring 2027
God's Own BYU - Spring 2027 takes place on 29 May 2027 at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds (LS5 3BF). The event is organised by God's Own Backyard Ultra and forms part of the Backyard Ultra Series, offering a route to the BYU Championship and a place in Big Dog's Backyard Ultra. Entries require a minimum age of 18; the event is currently full. The published entry fee is £90 and there are 93 participants entered so far.
Competitors start on the hour each hour and must complete a 4.167 mile loop within the hour to qualify for the next lap. A bell is sounded on the hour; failing to reach the starting area before the bell results in disqualification. All runners who fail a lap are recorded as DNF until a single runner completes a lap alone and is crowned the champion.
The course is not flat and includes elevation gain on each loop. Surfaces include canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths; a night loop avoids crossing the canal and follows a tarmac towpath. Organisers provide a waymarked and marshalled route, hot and cold water, fruit and sweets, toilets, first aid cover, a Yorkshire goodie bag and a T-shirt for participants. Camping facilities are available at the start/finish; campervans are not accommodated. Public transport access via Kirkstall Forge rail station is noted. Participants should bring personal nutrition and appropriate clothing; a headtorch and spare batteries are recommended for overnight running.
