Go Wild Santa Cruz 2 Hr, 4 Hr

This is a map-based adventure scramble held in the open spaces of Santa Cruz, California on Saturday, November 14, 2026. The event takes place at the Buckeye Picnic Area in Harvey West Park, 305 Evergreen St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060 (GPS 36.982567, -122.037473). Participants move through redwood and mixed forests and meadows and return to a finish area with refreshments and socializing.

Teams of one to five people navigate with a custom map to locate up to 20 checkpoints within either a two hour or four hour time limit.

  • 4 hour Scramble

The event map is 1:12500 scale with 5 meter elevation contours. Each checkpoint is marked on the map with a circle and in the field by a colored stand topped by a blue timing station. Competitors use a timing chip to register each visit; lending chips are available and compatible personal SportIdent ePunch chips may be used. Checkpoints carry different point values based on distance and challenge. Returning after the allotted time incurs a small per-minute penalty.

Age and gender divisions are offered, including Junior, Open, Masters, Family, Women, Men, and Mixed. The event runs rain or shine; closed-toed shoes with good grip, hats, and sunblock are recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
