Glenmore 24
Glenmore 24 is a 12 or 24 hour trail race held in Glenmore Forest outside Aviemore, near Loch Morlich. The route is completely off road and is run as repeated laps of a roughly four mile forest loop that starts at The Hayfield, passes Loch Morlich and includes a water stop at around 2 miles. There is a short hill between miles 2 and 3.
The main route operates for the full event with an option in the final hour to join a measured 400 m loop. If a runner starts a four mile loop and does not complete it within the event time that distance will not be recorded. All 400 m loops are counted and recorded with a measuring wheel. The Hayfield is used as a runners welfare area where aid stations can be set around the perimeter tap for servicing by crew.
Support crew rules limit numbers and location: 12 hour runners may have one crew person, 24 hour runners may have two; support crew are not allowed on the course and must remain in the start finish area. Sweep vehicles monitor the route periodically. Runners may run unsupported.
The race issues a mandatory kit list and a recommended kit list due to variable Highland weather; mandatory items include a foil blanket, water container, food, working mobile with race control number, small first aid kit and a race vest. The use of NSAIDs during the race is prohibited. There are no specific entry requirements; the event has a published refund and deferral policy.
