Dava Way 50k : event overview

The Dava Way 50k is a trail ultramarathon held on 7th November 2026 that follows the Dava Way route from Grantown-on-Spey to Forres. The race covers 50 km and largely follows the line of the old Highland Railway, offering traffic-free, runnable trails through woodland, moorland and farm tracks.

The route includes an ascent to Dava summit at 321 m / 1052 ft before a long descent toward sea level. Notable features along the course are the Divie viaduct, Huntly's Cove, the Breathing Place at Dunphail near the viaduct, and the Halfway Hut which has been restored with solar panels. The route also passes Anagach Woods and the River Spey near Grantown, and features two wood sculptures: a dragoon near the summit and a collie dog.

Race administration details include an entry limit of 300 runners, a cut-off time of 8 hours, and an entry fee of £65. Entrants must be over 18 and have some experience with ultra distance running. Entries are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. GPX files and a race handbook are provided to competitors in advance, and the organiser notes the route may change due to external factors.
