Dava Way 50k

The Dava Way 50k is a trail ultramarathon held on 7th November 2026 that covers 50 km between Grantown-on-Spey and Forres. The route mostly follows the old Highland Railway line, providing traffic-free, runnable trails through varied scenery including woodland, moorland and farm tracks, with views of the River Spey and a long descent into the pastoral landscapes around Forres. The route reaches the Dava Summit at about 321 m / 1052 ft and then drops toward sea level.

Notable features along the course include the Divie viaduct, Huntly’s Cove gorge, the Breathing Place at Dunphail, the restored Halfway Hut shelter with solar panels, and two wooden sculptures near the summit and along the way. GPX files and a race map are available for download, and the course may be subject to change due to external factors.

Entry is limited to 300 runners, with a posted price of £65 and an 8-hour cutoff. Entries are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Competitors must be over 18 and have some experience with ultra distance running. Volunteers are requested to assist with marshalling, catering and event support; volunteers are offered event incentives such as refreshments, a hi-vis vest and a post-event gathering. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
