The Cairngorms Trail Marathon 2026
The Cairngorms Trail Marathon takes place on 20 Sep 2026 and covers 26.2 miles on mixed surfaces, approximately 80% trail and 20% road. Trail shoes are recommended.
The route is a loop that starts and finishes at the market stance in Kingussie and is led out by a local piper. After a short road section runners join the Kingussie cycle path and cross Tromie Bridge, then continue onto trails past Killiehuntly and through Glenfeshie. The course includes mountain views, forest trails and river crossings before returning to Kingussie.
The terrain is undulating and includes challenging sections. The event is recommended for people who have completed at least a half marathon and who are physically and mentally prepared for trail conditions. There are no cut-off times.
Registration and the event base are at The Crossing, Kingussie, opposite Kingussie Railway Station. Car parking is available at The Crossing, Kingussie Railway Station, Kingussie Church and the Market Stance.
Entry includes a group warm-up led by a Fitnessat58° instructor, a bespoke finishers' medal and finishers' T-shirt, food at the finish including BBQ and home baking, prizes for the top three male and female runners, and exclusive discounted B+B rates at The Crossing in Kingussie and The Braeriach in Newtonmore.
