Event Overview
The Frosty Cox 6 Hour Trail Race is a timed event held in Concord, North Carolina. This race provides access to a private network of trails that are typically closed to the public. Participants navigate a loop course for a total duration of six hours, with the objective of completing as many full laps as possible within the time limit.
Course Details
The race takes place on a 6.2 mile (10K) loop. The terrain consists of 95% singletrack and 5% jeep road, featuring a 100% dirt surface. Each loop includes approximately 1,350 feet of elevation gain. The course features a variety of natural elements, including:
- A creek crossing
- Hardwood forests
- Mature pine groves
- Significant climbs and descents
Facilities and Support
A fully stocked aid station is located at the end of each loop. The station provides standard race snacks, Tailwind, and home-baked goods. Hot cocoa may be provided depending on weather conditions. On-site parking is available at the venue and across the street, though carpooling is suggested. Packet pickup and a pre-race briefing are conducted on-site prior to the start.
Recognition and Distances
Participants must complete at least one full lap (6.2 miles) to receive a finisher award. Only completed full laps are counted toward a runner's total distance. Specific recognition is available for different milestones:
- 6.2 miles: Minimum distance for a finisher award
- 31 miles: Completion of five laps earns custom 50K artwork
- Overall awards are presented to the top male and female finishers
