Froggy Mountain Warrior 100
The Froggy Mountain Warrior is a winter 100 Miler held in Galax, VA on February 26, 2027. The race takes place on private property at 166 Old Quaker Road and serves as a fundraiser for the veterans organization #22toomany. Fifty dollars from each registration will be donated to that cause.
The course uses new and existing trails. A new section will be an approximate 5 to 8 mile out-and-back on switchbacks that follows deer trails. The route is expected to feature an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 feet of climb on mildly technical singletrack with roots and logs to step over. The venue includes a drop bag location at the mountain top.
Support and logistics include an aid station with some hot food, heated indoor space available for bathrooms, cooking and napping, and a generous 56 hour cutoff for finishers. Pacers are allowed after 50 miles. Bibs are available for pickup on Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
Race cost includes a lowkey buckle inscribed with the event's "warrior" artwork; registrations recorded before February 1 receive the buckle at the event, otherwise it will be mailed. Onsite camping with spring water is available; there are also hotels and short-term rentals in nearby Galax. Weather in February can range from mild to snow, freezing rain or frigid wind chills. Recommended gear is listed by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
