The Zero to Hero Run - sponsored by the Second Wind Foundation
This event takes place at the Flint Hills Trail Mile Zero Trailhead in Osawatomie, Kansas, and is presented by the Second Wind Foundation. The course runs on a non-technical rail-trail with a firm, smooth crushed-gravel surface and is described as flat. The Flint Hills Trail is noted as part of Kansas's more than 3,000 miles of public trails.
Finishers receive trail-themed medals and there are overall awards for top finishers in each distance. A participant giveaway is also planned and listed as TBD. The event date gives participants an extra hour of sleep the night before.
Distances offered
- 5K - trail race, fee $30
- 10K - trail race, fee $35
- 10 Miles - trail race, fee $40
Registration opens August 14, 2026 and closes October 30, 2026. Packet pickup is available at the Karl E. Cole Sports Complex, 900 12th Street, Osawatomie, Kansas 66064. The organizer notes that using Google Maps may help locate the correct address.
