Flagstaff Loop Trail 45 Miler

This is an unofficial "fatass" style, no-entry-fee running event on the Flagstaff Loop Trail. Because there is no entry fee, resources are limited and all participants must bring an assigned contribution such as cookies, chips, or sports drink for the shared aid supplies. Contributions are assigned and communicated before the event. Runners are encouraged to carry most of their own food and fluids.

The course starts and finishes at Schultz Creek Trailhead in Flagstaff, AZ. The loop is roughly 45 miles and the trail system is still evolving, so actual race-day distance may vary by about a mile. Total elevation gain is approximately 3,300 feet. The course is unmarked; participants must use a device capable of loading a GPX file for navigation.

Aid stations will offer water and the participant-contributed items. This is a cupless event; participants should bring a soft flask or soft cup if they plan to use aid station liquids.

One drop bag is available at the Lake Mary / JW Powell aid station (about mile 29). Drop bags will be returned to the finish line. Labeling is optional but may help with organization.

There are no formal cutoffs, but the organizer requests that runners who have not reached Woody Mountain Road (mile 35) by sundown consider stopping; transport back to the start will be provided if needed. Recommended gear includes a headlamp, enough food and water for the longest 12 mile segment, and clothing for variable October weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
