Fields of Gold Trail Run
The Fields of Gold Trail Run is held at Shaffer Bend Recreation Area in Marble Falls, TX (706 County Road 343A, 78654). The courses use rolling hills, meadow trails, and lakeside paths and pass through expanses of native grasses, wooded valleys, and scenic overlooks.
Race options include:
- 50K
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 12-Hour Endurance Challenge
- Gold Hour (60-minute on a 4-mile out-and-back)
- 10K
- 5K
The 12-Hour Endurance Challenge is scored by total miles covered rather than a fixed distance. Aid stations and on-course support are provided. In the event's final hour, remaining participants move to a designated shortened basecamp loop to accumulate final mileage; laps must be completed before the hour ends to count.
The Gold Hour is a one-hour endurance challenge on a scenic out-and-back course. Runners have a fixed 60-minute window to cover as much distance as possible and must cross the finish mat before the hour expires for a lap to record.
All participants receive a harvest-themed finisher medal and a race shirt and have access to a post-race celebration. Aid stations feature seasonal items such as apple cider, pumpkin cookie bites, and warming beverages. Night runners must carry a headlamp, a recommended backup light, wear reflective clothing or a vest, have a personal hydration system, and carry a cell phone for emergencies.
The event is organized by Fit Foundation volunteers and after expenses supports HKRS Cedar Park youth running programs, including registration assistance, equipment, program expansion, volunteer training, and community outreach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
