About the race
The Farmers Market 5K is a family friendly community event held in Everson, organized through a partnership between the EN Valley Farmers Market and the Greater Bellingham Running Club. The event takes place on the opening day of the market season, with proceeds supporting market development, assistance programs, and local community events.
The course covers a distance of approximately 5 km (3.18 miles) and is designed to accommodate runners and walkers of all ages, including those with strollers. Participants navigate a variety of surfaces and surroundings throughout the route. The course includes a bridge crossing over the Nooksack River, a gravel trail section, and a scenic stretch along a dike paralleling the river. A unique feature of the event is a farm tour loop that passes through the mowed pathways and greenhouses of Broad Leaf Farm, a certified organic facility.
The event starts and finishes at Everson City Park. Because the race coincides with the farmers market opening, participants have access to various hospitality options at the finish line, including local food trucks, a coffee bar, and multiple market vendors. The course remains open for 90 minutes, and the race is chip-timed. Preordered race shirts are available, and bib pick up occurs at the registration tent on the morning of the event.
