Eyam Fell Race sponsored by The Barrel
The Eyam Fell Race is a 10 km fell running event held in the historic village of Eyam on Tuesday 1 September 2026. It starts and finishes at Eyam Sports Pavilion and follows a loop that climbs from the village up to Sir William Hill, passes the Barrel Inn at Bretton, crosses Abney Moor and returns through a steep wooded section into Eyam. The route includes steep ascents, a tight switchback, heather-covered ground and steep descents, and it is marshalled along its length.
The event is organised with limited entries and offers prizes provided by the event sponsor, The Barrel Inn. A barbecue and real ale are available in the courtyard after the race. The main race has an entry fee of £8 and is for participants aged 17 and over on the day; anyone under 18 must have prior fell running experience over similar distances.
There is also a junior event on the day with a shorter course. This youth race is marshalled and includes steep climbs and descents where shoes with good grip are advised; prizes are awarded by age category.
