Eight Stations Ultra

The Eight Stations Ultra is a trail running event over 50K from Pickering to Whitby. The 2027 route is run in the reverse direction to previous editions. The course follows mixed terrain and runs alongside parts of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the Esk Valley Walk, passing eight railway stations and finishing in Whitby.

The course has about 3322 ft of ascent, mainly undulating. The event includes five marshaled checkpoints that provide water and snacks, including vegan options and gluten free alternatives. First aid and event insurance are in place on the day.

Entries are open to people aged 20 and over. Walkers are permitted provided they can complete the course within 13 hours. Dogs are not allowed on the course because of the agricultural nature of the route. Spectators are not permitted at checkpoints due to parking restrictions but may meet participants elsewhere along the route.

The entry fee includes a finishers medal, water, and snacks. Optional items and services include a finishers tee for £10 and a coach transfer from Whitby to Pickering available for an additional £22. Trophies are awarded for first male, first female, first non binary, and several veteran age categories. A GPX route is available subject to minor changes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
