Drone Valley Trail Half Marathon
The Drone Valley Trail Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile trail race that starts and finishes at Drone Valley Brewery in Unstone, Derbyshire. The route runs through the Derbyshire countryside and includes forests, fields, bridleways, minor roads and riverside paths.
The course contains approximately 1,700 feet of elevation and combines a few steep climbs with several easily runnable sections. There are a number of busy road crossings; the most hazardous crossings will have marshals. The route is largely self-navigated and unsupported, with one aid station located at the halfway point that offers light refreshments. Runners receive a GPX file and written race instructions; final copies will be emailed to entrants before the event.
Included for entrants are a high-quality finisher’s medal and a voucher for a free pint or a non-alcoholic option, redeemable on race day at the brewery. First aid cover is provided at the start and finish area, at the halfway aid station, and at points on the course. Prizes are awarded to the first male and female finishers; the prize this year is a runner’s advent calendar from a local sponsor.
Entry requirements and practical notes: minimum age 18; UK Athletics affiliated runners receive a discount; early bird and standard entry fees apply. There is no parking at the brewery; parking is available in a layby a few hundred metres up the road. Mandatory kit includes a minimum 1 litre water capacity, waterproof jacket, warm layers, emergency blanket, whistle, emergency snacks, and a charged mobile phone.
