Deer Lake 5 Mile Trail Run
The Deer Lake 5 Mile Trail Run is held in rural Killingworth, CT on the Deer Lake Outdoor Center property. Deer Lake Outdoor Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on accessible outdoor education and protects more than 250 acres of green space with miles of trails.
The main course is a challenging, 5(ish)-mile trail that includes almost 500 ft of elevation gain. The route traverses the property on well-marked trails, offering scenic views and varied terrain. Runners should expect technical trail conditions with rocks, roots and possible mud.
New for 2027, there is a timed 1(ish)-mile trail course for kids and the young at heart. That course is also technical and will be timed, with awards for top finishers.

Awards are given to the overall male and female winners and to male and female winners in the following age groups: 0–12 (participants under 10 must be accompanied by an adult along the entire racecourse), 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 entries.
Entry fees for the 5-mile event are $30 through March 14, $35 March 15 to April 14, $40 April 15 to April 24, and $45 on race day (cash or check only). Kids 1-mile fees are $15 through March 14, $20 March 15 to April 14, $25 April 15 to April 24, and $30 on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
