Sleeping Giant Trail Runs

Sleeping Giant Trail Runs are held at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut on April 4, 2027. The event uses a single 25K loop through the park; the 50K is contested by completing the loop twice. The park contains more than 30 miles of trails including smooth carriage roads, rolling singletrack, and technical rocky singletrack.

The 25K loop includes over 3,000 feet of vertical gain. The first five miles are mostly runnable rolling singletrack with occasional small rock scrambles. The course features a steep headwall scramble gaining roughly 500 feet in 0.3 miles, technical ups and downs, an aid station near Chestnut Trailhead around mile eight, a second visit to that aid location near mile 12, an ascent on the Quinnipiac Blue Trail to the Observation Tower, a 1.5 mile carriage road descent called Tower Path, and a short paved return to the pavilion start/finish.

Aid stations provide water, Hyle Hydration electrolyte drink, and typical race food. The event is cupless; participants must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup. A GPX file for the 25K loop is made available. Race policies include no littering, nontransferable entries, mandatory adherence to marked course routing, discouraged use of personal music devices, and discrete restroom use off trail. Entry fees are tiered by registration period and refunds are not provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
