Tower Tag Challenge
The Tower Tag Challenge is a timed trail event held at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. The course uses the Tower Trail carriage road and is run as repeated out and back laps. Each lap is 3.3 miles and follows a crushed gravel path that ascends more than 600 feet in about 1.5 miles to the Observation Tower, circles the tower, and returns the same way. The loop begins at the pavilion inside the park with a short paved section at the start and end of each lap.
Participants choose between two time-based options that determine how many laps they attempt: an 8 hour option and a 4 hour option. Entry fees vary by registration date and tiered pricing is published for early, mid, and late registration for each option. Registration opens January 1.
Aid at the start/finish provides water, electrolyte drink, and typical food items such as chips and candy. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup. The course is well marked and organizers recommend downloading the provided GPX file to a phone or GPS watch. Standard trail rules for safety and trail etiquette apply, including no littering, following the marked course, and withdrawing only at designated aid stations or the start/finish so that withdrawals are recorded.
