Tower Tag Challenge
Tower Tag Challenge is a timed up‑and‑down trail event held at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. The course uses the Tower Trail, a mostly smooth carriage road that climbs about 600+ feet in roughly 1.5 miles to the park Observation Tower. Each lap starts near the pavilion, follows a short paved section to the Tower Trail, climbs the crushed gravel path to the tower, proceeds counterclockwise around the tower, and returns the same way for a continuous out and back.
Participants choose between four hour and eight hour options and complete as many laps as they can within their chosen time limit. Each lap measures 3.3 miles. The course is marked with ribbons and signage and a GPX file is provided for navigation. Aid at the start/finish offers water or electrolyte drink and typical food items; the event is cupless so runners must carry their own bottle, pack, or cup.
Registration opens January 1 and registration fees vary by entry window. The organizer provides finisher medals, sponsor swag, and awards for top overall finishers in each event. Event policies note no littering on park land, mandatory adherence to the marked course, and an encouraged headphone free environment to support safety and trail awareness.
