About the race
Deep Creek Backyard Ultra is a backyard-style trail running event held in Cairncross State Forest near Port Macquarie, starting 31 October 2026. The race uses a repeating loop of 6.71 km run once every hour; runners must complete each loop within the hour and continue until only one runner remains or all are unable to continue. The distance is therefore unlimited and depends on how many loops an individual completes.
The event hub is the central support area. There are no aid stations or support crews on the forest course itself; all support is provided at the hub. Runners may set up a 3×3 m support tent at the hub for crew assistance. A basic aid point in the Dead Zone offers water, electrolytes, chips, and lollies for uncrewed runners, and a food trailer sells hot food and drinks around the clock. Participants are advised to prepare for variable conditions and to bring mandatory gear, spare clothing, and extra shoes for long-duration, stop-start running across day and night.
