About the race
The Bottlebutt Bash Trail Run is a trail running event held in Burrawan State Forest near Port Macquarie on 7 March 2027. The event uses a full loop of 21.1km as its core course and offers four distances:
- 42.2km (marathon; two laps of the 21.1km loop)
- 21.1km (one full loop)
- 12km
- 7km
The 12km and 7km courses share the start of the 21.1km route before diverting to different finishes. The route passes by Old Bottlebutt, a notable Red Bloodwood tree described as about 200 years old with a large girth, which is a focal point on the course.
On-course support is provided at checkpoints and the race hub. Checkpoints supply hydration (water, soda, electrolytes), food via a self-serve buffet with volunteer assistance, sanitizing products, and waste management. The finish area at the race hub offers coffee and drinks for purchase, a staffed medical tent, space for supporters, and finisher medals issued to all finishers.
The event is organised by Coastal Track and Trail Runners. It operates as a solo-run event; support crews and spectators may attend the race hub.
