About the race
The Cumbrian Traverse is a professionally guided, fully supported high level route through the heart of the Lake District on Saturday 26 September 2026. The route starts at Broughton Mills in Dunnerdale and finishes in Keswick. Participants will cover 50 km with approximately 3,500 m of ascent and visit 21 fells.
Summits listed for the route include Great Stickle, Stickle Pike, Caw, White Maiden, Brown Pike, Dow Crag, The Old Man of Coniston, Swirl How, Great Carrs, Cold Pike, Crinkle Crags, Bowfell, Esk Pike, Great End, Great Gable, Green Gable, Brandreth, Grey Knotts, High Spy, Maiden Moor and Cat Bells.
The event is limited to a maximum of 12 places and has a minimum age of 18 years. The advertised cost is £299 and an instalment option is offered with 50 percent payable on entry and the remaining 50 percent due by 28 August 2026. New entries opened 10 July 2026 and closed 9 September 2026.
Support provision includes a maximum guide to participant ratio of 1:6, two refuelling points on the route, a support vehicle with a qualified leader, and transport from Keswick to the start plus transport to the finish for those who need to drop out. Accommodation and most food are not included; snacks will be available at the support points. Cancellation insurance is not included.
