The Cowboy 200

The Cowboy 200 is a point to point footrace on the Cowboy Trail in Nebraska, running from Norfolk to Valentine. The event offers two distance options: a 200 mile route and a 100 mile route. The course follows a rails to trails corridor and is largely on crushed gravel; it is described as non-technical, 100% runnable, and very flat.

The 200 mile course covers more than 200 miles with zero repetition. Aid support on the 200 mile route includes 11 fully stocked aid stations, at least eight unmanned aid stations, and three sleep stations. Runners may sleep in crew vehicles or tents at all full or manned aid stations. Additional cutoffs are set for each distance: the 200 mile solo cutoff is 84 hours and the 100 mile solo cutoff is 32 hours; further aid station cutoffs appear in the runner manual.

Event rules require participants to be at least 18 years old. Muling is prohibited; pacers may not carry items for runners. Runners must check in and out of full aid stations, carry required gear, avoid littering, follow laws and local regulations, and remain on the designated course. Assistance is allowed only at full or crewed aid stations.

Race items and awards vary by distance. 200 mile entrants receive apparel and a year specific finisher buckle; top finishers receive cash prizes. 100 mile finishers receive a finisher buckle and apparel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
