Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series #1

Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series #1 takes place on May 8, 2027, at King County’s Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park in Newcastle, WA. The event is part of the 24th annual series organized by Seattle Running Club and Northwest Trail Runs and offers two trail distances.

Distances

  • 5.1-mile route on park trails
  • 10.8-mile route on park trails

The series has raised over $254,000 for King County Parks and contributed many hundreds of hours of trail work. Course maps and historical results and photos are available from past years. Registration is listed as coming soon.

The park is about 15 minutes from Seattle and features rolling, runnable hills and a mix of trail types, from narrow, technical single track to wider, groomed paths. Runners pass through forest and fern-lined single track, over hills, and along marsh areas close to the city.

Logistics note: the registration and start location is at Sky Country Trailhead off 166th Way SE, not at the Red Town trailhead. Directions from major routes such as I-90 and I-405 are provided for access. Series competition rules require runners to compete in at least three of the four races in either the Short Series or the Long Series to be eligible for series standings; scores from the two series may not be mixed.
