Conquer The Summit : Mt Barker, South Australia
Conquer The Summit is an annual community running and walking event held in March at Mt Barker. The event offers multiple course distances and a timed half-marathon option, with routes that use roadside, fire track, vineyard and trail terrain and finish at the top of Mt Barker Summit. The start and finish are at the Summit Sport and Recreation Park.
Distance options include:
- 21.1 km half-marathon
- 10.55 km quarter-marathon (run or walk)
- 5 km run or walk
- Kids' Dash: untimed two-lap oval dash for under-12s
The event is a major fundraiser for Mt Barker Lions and Rotary Clubs, with 100% of entry fees directed to Operation Flinders and other local charities. Race services include electronic timing, on-course water stations, finisher medals, placings trophies, aid stations, and accessible parking at the park. An event bell is located at the summit.
The half-marathon has a safety cut-off: participants who take more than 90 minutes to reach 10.55 km may be asked to finish at that point and will receive an official time and medal for the shorter distance. The event operates cup-free; participants must bring their own drinking vessel for refills at water stations.
Registrations open 1 November. The event has early-bird pricing and specifies conditions for junior entries and refunds. Course maps, GPX files and race briefings are provided by the organisers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
