Colt 45 Trail Run
The Colt 45 Trail Run takes place in Colt Creek State Park, located in Lakeland, Florida. This trail event features a variety of distances held on a loop-based course. The terrain consists of natural trails within the state park environment.
Participants can choose from four distinct distance options:
- 60 miles (Colt Double Malt): A 45-mile course with an additional bonus loop.
- 45 miles (Original Colt 45): Three 14-mile loops plus a 3-mile starter loop.
- 45 km (Colt Silver): Two 14-mile loops.
- 14 miles (Colt Mini): A single 14-mile loop.
The course is supported by three aid stations per loop. These are positioned at approximately mile 3, mile 5.6, and mile 11, with an additional station at the start and finish area. The distance between the two visits to the second aid station is just over 5 miles.
The event provides handcrafted medals for all finishers. Special overall awards are presented to the top three male and female runners in each category. Following the race, a picnic area is available at the site. Access to the park requires a vehicle fee, which can be paid in cash at the gate or through an online day-use pass system.
