Chester Ultra 50 : event summary

The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon held in the Chester area on Saturday 27th February 2027. The route covers approximately 50 miles with 849 m of ascent and links trails including the Sandstone Trail and the North Cheshire Way, passing Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. The course is waymarked, has GPX available and includes seven checkpoints along the route.

The event is organised by GB Ultras, is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. It awards ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points. Entry places are limited to 750 and the event has an overall cut-off time of 17 hours. Entry fees are listed as £129 unaffiliated and £127 for affiliated entrants.

Safety and logistics include live GPS tracking, refreshments at checkpoints (checkpoint 1 is water only), first aid provision at checkpoints and restrictions on supporter and crew access at several locations for safety and parking reasons. No dropbags, no pacers or support runners are permitted. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes items such as a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, minimum 1 litre water carry, a fully charged mobile phone in waterproof cover, foil blanket, a headtorch (min 75 lumens), a secondary torch and a whistle.
