Chester Ultra 50
The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon around Chester with 849m of ascent, organised by GB Ultras. The 11th edition takes place on Saturday 27 February 2027 and has 750 race places and a 17 hour overall cut-off. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules; it also awards ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points.
The well-marked route links canal towpath, the Sandstone Trail and the North Cheshire Way, passing Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. Seven checkpoints support runners along the route; Checkpoint 1 is water only and other checkpoints provide drinks and food. Dropbags are not permitted and participants must carry any personal items they need on the course.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have previously completed an organised marathon-distance event. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and may be checked; required items include a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long-sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre of water, a fully charged mobile phone in waterproof covering, a foil blanket, a headtorch (minimum 75 lumens), a secondary torch and a whistle.
Supporter access is restricted at several checkpoints and dogs except service dogs are not permitted at checkpoints or the start/finish venue. Pacers and support runners are not allowed. Finishers are awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze Chester medals by finishing position. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
