Chabot / Redtail Ridge Trail Run : Lake Chabot Regional Park, Castro Valley, CA
This trail event, organized by Inside Trail Racing, offers multiple distances around Lake Chabot Regional Park and nearby Anthony Chabot trails. Distances include:
- 50K
- 30K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The venue features eucalyptus forests, grassy meadows, lakeside paths, hilltop vistas, and over 20 miles of trails that connect to about 70 miles in Anthony Chabot Regional Park. For 2027 the organizer is working with East Bay Parks to adjust courses; the 50K course is under review and the 30K may be changed to a 35K course pending approvals.
Aid stations provide a range of foods and drinks such as energy gels, chews, trail mix, pretzels, chips, cookies, soda, water, sports hydration mix, sandwiches, bananas, and tangerines. Aid stations carry basic first aid supplies; runners are advised to carry at least one 20 oz bottle because distances between aid stations vary.
The event limits total entries to 500 runners across all distances. The 50K has an 8.5 hour time limit. Parking at Lake Chabot Regional Park is free while lots remain available, with additional free parking along the road outside the park; carpooling is encouraged. Bib pickup and check-in are scheduled the morning of the event.
Shirts, medals, trophies, age-group awards, a pint glass for 50K finishers, and a special award for the dead last finisher are part of the event offerings. Entry fees are non-refundable; a partial credit policy applies for cancellations made at least three weeks before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
