California Gold Rush Trail Run - Fall
The event takes place entirely inside Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, California. Distances offered include:
- Kids Run
- 1 Mile
- 5K
- 10K
- 15K
- Half Marathon
Courses combine singletrack dirt trails with a few paved sections. Runners encounter moderately technical ascents and descents, numerous switchbacks, rolling hills, and some flat stretches. Scenic views and wildlife are present along the routes. The event is held rain or shine, and mornings in Coloma can be very cold. Strollers are not allowed. The overall time limit for the event is 4.5 hours.
Course specifics: the 5K is a large clockwise loop with about 600 feet of ascent. The 10K, 15K, and half marathon use additional loops and sections of the Monroe Ridge and Monument trails; listed ascents are 1,286 feet for the 10K, 1,834 feet for the 15K, and 2,493 feet for the half marathon. The course is well marked with signs at intersections, chalk lines, mile markers, and a halfway sign for the half marathon. Course marshals staff key intersections; bib visibility is required so marshals can direct runners.
On course support includes two fully stocked aid stations plus an additional water stop. Parking is in the North Beach lot with a $10 parking fee; Golden Poppy annual day use passes are accepted. Finishers in the 5K, 10K, 15K, and half marathon receive a medal. Entry fees are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future Troy’s California Trail Runs event with at least 24 hours notice.
