Byers Peak Stampede Half Marathon & 5K Run
The event in Fraser, Colorado, offers trail-focused running on unpaved roads and trails with two distances:
- Half Marathon - 13.1 Miles, mostly dirt roads and trails.
- 5K - 3 Miles, primarily on dirt roads near the High Country Stampede Rodeo grounds.
The half marathon is a single-loop mountain course beginning at about 8,700 ft and traveling above 9,500 ft. Climbs and descents are described as fairly mellow for a mountain race. Four aid stations are placed on the half marathon course and provide water, sports drink, and fruit. The half and the 5K are chip timed. The half marathon includes a time limit to reach mile 9.
The 5K course includes an aid station at the finish line. Both courses take place mainly on dirt surfaces and remote roads.
All proceeds benefit the Shining Stars Foundation, which provides year-round, no-cost programs and services for children and families affected by cancer. The event meets criteria set by the American Trail Running Association for safety, organization, and environmental awareness. Dogs are permitted on leash. Pricing examples from registration information include $65 for the half and $45 for the 5K as early listed fees, with staged increases later.
