OCOLO 69 (2027) - Nederland, Colorado
OCOLO 69 is a 69 mile mountain endurance event held July 24–25, 2027 near Nederland, Colorado. The route consists of three loops of approximately 23 miles each with about 6,000 ft of climbing per loop, totaling roughly 18,099 ft of elevation gain. The course starts above 9,000 ft and reaches more than 13,300 ft on every loop, with exposed ridgelines and rapidly changing mountain conditions.
Participants choose one of three categories: RUNNER (no required weight), LIGHT (10 lbs dry) or HEAVY (25 lbs dry). Required weight must be carried in a ruck and cannot be made up of disposable items. Mandatory equipment includes a minimum 3 litre water carrying capacity, a functioning satellite communication device, sufficient battery power for navigation and communication, high altitude warm layers and the standard GBF kit. Mandatory kit will be checked before the event.
Navigation uses an AllTrails route that must be downloaded for offline use because cell service is limited. Candidates must report to three checkpoints on every loop: ARAPAHO (approx. mile 3.5), SPIRIT (approx. mile 12.5) and JAMES (approx. mile 17 and the highest point). Water replenishment is available near mile 16 of each loop and at headquarters. Personal medical kit and disclosure of medical conditions to staff are required.
Finish requirements include completing all three loops within the applicable pass time to record an official completion, and recording at least 65 miles via GPS to earn event recognition. Friends and family may offer moral support at headquarters but may not provide material assistance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
