Butser Hill Challenge
The Butser Hill Challenge is a timed fell run held at Queen Elizabeth Country Park (PO8 0QE) on 20 September 2026. The course reaches the highest point in the South Downs National Park and includes separate Junior and Senior races. Juniors compete by school year groups rather than by age; the senior event has a minimum age of 16.
The event was founded in 1978 and has raised in excess of £200,000 for charities. For 2026 the designated beneficiary is The New Blendworth Centre, a charity supporting young adults with varying degrees of learning needs.
Race entry is managed online via the Eventrac website. Race numbers must be worn on the front with contact and medical details completed on the back; competitors should not swap numbers. Facilities at the venue include toilets, first aid, free race parking (follow the signs once off the A3 into QECP), and refreshments. Parking in the centre car park is chargeable. There are no changing facilities and only limited bag storage.
Course and clothing notes: the grass slopes can be slippery, so good trainers are essential. In dry conditions trainers, road shoes and off-road studs may be suitable; in wet conditions off-road studs are recommended. Spikes are not permitted and will lead to disqualification.
