Buffalo Stampede Festival
The Buffalo Stampede Festival is a multi-distance trail and skyrunning event held in Bright and on Mount Buffalo in Victoria, Australia. It is organised by SingleTrack Events and typically attracts over 3,500 participants. The event centres on an Event Village at Pioneer Park Recreation Reserve in Bright.
Distances and event formats include:
- 100 km Buffalo Stampede (solo or team)
- 100 km Team Relay (teams of four)
- 42 km SkyMarathon
- 20 km SkyRun
- 10 km Twilight
- 5 km Family Trail
- 2 km Junior Trail
The festival also offers combined multi-day entries called the Ultra Slam (total 152 km) and the Grand Slam (total 72 km), which pair specific races across the weekend. Support activities noted in the schedule include bib collection and mandatory gear checks, a film night in Bright, athlete panels, food and beverage vendors at the Event Village, and an after party in Bright. Hand-drawn race maps by a local artist are available at the finish area.
The course routes use trails around Bright, portions of Mount Buffalo National Park and local features such as Mystic and Clearspot. The organisers acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Alpine Shire and provide event information on gear requirements, aid stations, cut-offs and race rules.
