Breakheart Backyard Ultra

The Breakheart Backyard Ultra is a repeat-lap endurance race held in the Cotswold countryside at Breakheart Quarry nature reserve, Stinchcombe Hill Road, Dursley, Glos GL11 6ER. The event takes place across Friday 11th June 2027 and Saturday 12th June 2027, with HQ opening on Friday for arrival and registration.

Each lap is 6706 metres (4.167 miles) and must be completed in less than one hour. Competitors run the same loop every hour, on the hour, until only one runner completes a loop that no one else can match. Runners may use any remaining time after a lap to rest or refuel before the next hour begins.

The route follows mixed trail paths and features about 560 ft of elevation gain per lap. Facilities at HQ include plumbed toilets, designated parking (limited), hard ground camping without electrical hook-ups, indoor shelter, charging points, hot and cold drinking water, snacks, and a log fire. The event provides timing, a fully marked route, first aid and marshals, and a zero waste log slice medal.

Key race rules include mandatory presence in the starting corral at the bell, three 3/2/1 minute warnings before each hour, completion of each loop within the hour to continue, no personal aid during a loop, no non-competitors on course, and a required race waiver at registration. Early bird entry is £75 (closes 01/09/2026); standard entry is £85. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
