Brasstown Bald Buster - April 24, 2027
The Brasstown Bald Buster is a road 5K up Brasstown Bald, hosted by Project 42 Running in Hiawassee, GA. The course gains 1,700 feet of elevation over 3.1 miles and is described as a scenic ascent to Georgia's highest peak. The event offers both a standard 5K and a ruck division on the same course.
In the ruck division men carry 25 lbs and women carry 15 lbs. Participants in the ruck have a 2.5-hour allotment to reach the top. Awards are presented to the top three men and top three women overall in both the 5K and the ruck.
Logistics note that parking is not allowed at the bottom or along roads; participants park at the top and either walk down to the start or use a provided shuttle service. Everyone receives a medal and a T-shirt; to guarantee a shirt, register by April 10, 2027. There is no race-day registration, and the event does not allow transfers, refunds, or deferrals. The event proceeds regardless of weather.
The venue is the Brasstown Bald Visitor Center & Recreation Area at 2941 Highway 180 Spur, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
