BRADBURY BRUISER : August 8, 2027
The Bradbury Bruiser is a trail race held in Pownal, ME, on the East Side trail system at Bradbury. The course is a twisting 12-mile loop of single-track trails featuring rocks, roots, bumps, and hills, with the final two miles routed on the "O-Trail." The race has a cutoff of 3 hours 36 minutes, which corresponds to an 18-minute mile pace.
The event is organized by Trail Monster Running, a nonprofit group run by unpaid volunteers. Field size is limited to 140 runners for this race in the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series. There is no wait list, no bib transfers, and no same day registration. Registration opens February 1, 2027.
All registered runners receive that year’s custom race T-shirt at bib pickup and must be present to receive the shirt. Awards include first choice from the prize table for the top three overall male and female finishers, plus additional prizes given by random drawing among decade age group winners. Many prizes are donated by sponsors such as Marathon Sports, Wicked Joe Organic Coffee, Squirrel’s Nut Butter, Lamey Wellehan Shoes, and Prospect Mountain Furniture.
The Bruiser is the final race of the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series. Runners who complete three series races within the cutoff times earn a Bad Ass Hoodie, and the overall male and female series champions also receive a handcrafted Adirondack chair from Prospect Mountain Furniture.
Race etiquette rules ask runners to yield when appropriate, stay on the marked course, pack out trash, and avoid headphones. Dogs are not permitted on the course or at the event. Proceeds support race equipment and local outdoor and trail nonprofits, and leftover shirts or hoodies are donated to local homeless shelters.
