About the race
The Bradbury Breaker is a trail race held on July 11, 2027 in Pownal, ME at Bradbury Mountain State Park and organized by Trail Monster Running.
The course is 9 miles run as two laps of an exceptionally hilly, technical single track on the mountain side of the park. The route includes multiple climbs, forest trails, and classic Maine rocks and roots.
The race cutoff is 3 hours 0 minutes, equivalent to a 20 minute per mile pace. Entry is limited to 140 runners; there is no wait list, no bib transfers, and no same day registration. The series keeps race fields intentionally small in part because parking at the park is limited.
All registered runners receive a custom race T shirt distributed at bib pickup; runners must be present to receive their shirt. Registrations after June 26 will receive a Mens Large shirt and may exchange it after the race if extra shirts are available. The top three overall male and female finishers choose first from the prize table and additional prizes are awarded by random drawing among decade age group winners. Many prizes are donated by sponsors including Marathon Sports, Wicked Joe Organic Coffee, Squirrel’s Nut Butter, Lamey Wellehan Shoes and Prospect Mountain Furniture.
The Breaker is part of the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series. Runners who complete three races in the series within the cutoff times earn a Bad Ass Hoodie and overall series champions receive a handcrafted Adirondack chair from Prospect Mountain Furniture. Trail Monster Running is a nonprofit run by unpaid volunteers; proceeds support race equipment and local outdoor and trail related nonprofits, and leftover shirts or hoodies are donated to local homeless shelters.
