Box Turtle Express Trail Races
The Box Turtle Express Trail Races take place on Bauxite Ridge in Collegedale, Tennessee on Labor Day, Monday September 7, 2026. The event center is the McKee Employee Recreation Center at 10620 Apison Pike.
Distances offered include:
- 15K about 9.3 miles, single track, +750 ft elevation
- 8K 5 miles, +450 ft elevation
- 1K Kids Run 0.6 miles, paved, for ages 10 and under, includes finisher medal
The 15K has podium cash prizes for male and female overall places 1 to 3 and a course record bounty. The 8K awards custom podium prizes. The 1K includes a custom race t-shirt, finisher medal and additional participant swag; parents may run with their children if needed.
Aid stations are stocked with electrolyte hydration, water and trail snacks, with two stations on the 15K and one on the 8K. The course is marked with ground mounted signs at intersections, confirmation signage after turns, and volunteers at major turns.
Parking is available at the MERC main lot and lower overflow lots, with additional overflow parking nearby. The event is spectator friendly with multiple viewing opportunities near the start area and a visible final quarter mile on the MERC lower track.
Footwear suitable for trail running is recommended. This is a cup-less event so participants must carry their own water container. Personal audio devices are strongly discouraged and pets are not allowed on the race course. The race will proceed in typical rain unless conditions are unsafe and there are no refunds.
