Borders Ultra Challenge
The Borders Ultra Challenge is a trek and trail run event that extends into Scotland. The route begins in Berwick-upon-Tweed in England and follows the Berwickshire Coastal Path. Participants travel north through Eyemouth and St Abb's Head before heading inland past John Muir Country Park to reach the finish line in the seaside town of North Berwick.
Participants can choose to walk, jog, or run the following distances:
- 84 km (Full Challenge)
- 42 km (Marathon)
- 16 km (North Berwick 10 Mile)
The event features a fully signed route marked with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections. Support services include marquee rest stops located approximately every 12.5 km, with major stops every 25 km. These stations provide food, drinks, medical tents, and massage teams. A timing system and a mobile app with GPS tracking are used to monitor progress.
Participants have access to inclusive camping packages, which include showers and chill-out areas. Shuttle buses and transfers are available to transport participants to local train stations and between key event venues. The event is open to individuals and corporate teams. Finishers receive a medal and a T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
