The Borders Ultra Challenge
The Borders Ultra Challenge takes place on 28-29 August 2027 and runs from Berwick-upon-Tweed to North Berwick. The route follows the Berwickshire coastal path, passing Emouth, St Abb’s Head, Dunbar and inland near John Muir Country Park, with a halfway stop at the marathon distance in the double marathon format.

Participants may walk, jog, or run and can choose solo start, Ultra March, or Trailblazerz options. Camping and transfer services are available as part of event logistics and there are camping packages with showers and chill-out areas.
Support along the route includes covered rest stops approximately every 12.5 km with larger rest stops every ~25 km. Rest stops provide marquee cover, catering, seating, changing rooms, medical and massage teams, and self-help blister supplies. The route is marked with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections, and an event app provides GPS tracking. A timing system scans at rest stops to log progress.
Food and drink are included, with snacks about every 12.5 km and meals about every 25 km; dietary requirements are catered for and lighter options are offered for runners. Finishers receive a medal, T-shirt, a glass of fizz and an official downloadable certificate. Shuttle buses and parking are available at key locations, and the event supports series partner charities and corporate team entries.
