About the race

BMF UTA Stair Training / Taper Run offers guided training on Ultra Trail Australia trails around Violet Street, Katoomba, NSW. The session covers the UTA11 course as a minimum and may include additional UTA trails to extend the route up to 24 km. The exact route can change if National Parks or council closures, landslides, floods or other unforeseen circumstances affect access.

Run leaders hold an NPWS ECO PASS licence and insurance to operate within the National Park. Trainers align the session with STREEK.RUNUTA base and event specific UTA race training plans and it forms part of the Locker Room 16 week race plans. Trainers will share practical advice on race preparation, gear, nutrition, pacing and course information.

Multiple pace groups are offered, typically named Turtles, Mid Paced and Speedy Hares, with a possible walker group and walk trainer if needed. Participants are asked to carry the UTA22 mandatory gear and to bring sufficient fuel and hydration for the duration. A full information sheet with meeting points and a course map will be provided to participants before the run.

Minimum age for this training run is 12 years. Fees are A$65 for ages 16 and over and A$50 for ages 11 to 15. Cancellations more than 28 days before the event receive a 50 percent refund; cancellations within 28 days are not processed. Transfers may be considered and enhanced protection insurance is available at registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
