About the race
The Blackacre Barnstormer is a trail race held at Blackacre Nature Preserve in Louisville, Kentucky, with two distances.
- 4 Miles
- 8 Miles
The course starts near the 1790 Double Crib Barn and the Presley Tyler homestead and moves across fields and dedicated trails. The route follows the lane onto the Sunrise Meadow trail, dips into the Waterfall Trail which is rocky in places, passes a large historic white oak, uses a Cattail Pond loop, runs past the Spring House and alongside the barn, and includes Dragonfly Pond and the Sunset Trail. Runners will pass farm animals such as goats and cows during the course. The 8 mile distance completes a second loop while the 4 mile distance finishes at the arch.
Packet pick-up is on site on race day; participants should allow time to pin race bibs before the start. All finishers receive the Blackacre Barnstormer medal. Awards are given for Overall Male and Overall Female. Race shirts with the Barnstorming Goat image are available as an optional add-on for $5 and a limited number of shirts will be offered on race day; pre-orders must be placed no later than two weeks before race day.
This event is cupless. Participants are asked to bring their own bottle, hydration pack, or cup. Bottled water will be available in limited supply. Parking is largely in a grass field and carpooling is preferred. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
