Event Overview
Running Through the Decades - The 1980s Edition is a themed running event hosted by the Bigfoot Running Company in Plano, Texas. The event takes place at Ted Polk Middle School and features a variety of distances to accommodate different participation levels. The atmosphere is centered on 1980s nostalgia, including a pre-race costume contest where participants are encouraged to wear retro attire such as neon colors, leg warmers, and headbands.
Course Details
The races are held on a variety of surfaces, including paved trails, park paths, and sections of crushed granite or dirt. As the event utilizes public spaces like parks and greenbelts, runners may share the course with other park users. Aid stations providing water and support are located along the routes. The event is held rain or shine.

- Half Marathon: A chip-timed 13.1 mile race.
- Quarter Marathon: A chip-timed 6.55 mile race.
- 5K: A chip-timed 3.11 mile race.
- 1 Mile Fun Run: An untimed event open to all ages.
- Kids Dash: A 50 meter run for children aged 10 and under.
- Virtual Run: A 13.1 mile remote participation option.
Awards and Amenities
All finishers across all distances receive a race medal and a t-shirt. Chip-timed events (Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5K) include overall and age group awards. Specific recognitions include trophies for top male and female finishers and pins for Masters (40+) and various age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70+.
